The Beginning
The 1928 Jewelry Company was founded in 1968 by Mel Bernie in Burbank, California. What started as a small operation grew into one of the largest fashion jewelry manufacturers in the United States — and for over 55 years, we've been doing the same thing we did from the very beginning: creating beautiful, affordable jewelry inspired by the past.
Our designs draw from the rich aesthetics of the Victorian, Edwardian, and Art Deco eras — discovered in places like the vaults of European capitals and the antique-filled attics of old American estates. We turn those inspirations into modern pieces that respect the craftsmanship of the originals while fitting the way people dress and accessorize today.

Each item is presented in a beautiful gift box. Many items are made right in our Burbank facility by tenured artisans.
